WordPress 2.5 Released
March 29, 2008 by wavenumber
As it had been predicted, WordPress 2.5 has just been made available coinciding with WordCamp Dallas.
This blog is already running the new version and the upgrade was as painless as possible. It took less than 15 minutes, and that was mostly due to the slow uploading of files. Just make sure to check that all your plugins are up-to-date and that none of them conflicts with release 2.5. A good place to check for plugin compatibility is the Plugin Compatibility 2.5 list maintained by the WordPress community. Full directions to upgrade are listed in the Upgrading WordPress guide.
Some of the major features in this release include:
- faster loading - cleaner interface - integrated gallery and media management - built-in gravatar support - plugin one-click updates
While getting new versions of your plugins, you might want to also check a new interface for your administration, specially if the default one looks too bright. A very nice option and fully compatible with WP 2.5 is Fluency Admin.
