image725498583.jpgThis is just a quick post to test a new mobile client for WordPress. I haven’t had the chance to keep this site updated while away from the computer. Hopefully, this software will allow me to make new entries from an iPhone while travelling.
The picture is just another excessively noisy Starbucks packed with people using the new glossy MacBooks.

Revised Thumbnail Creator for the Revolution Pro Theme

Some people were experiencing problems with the original thumbnail generator. Automator is not exactly a robust piece of software making debugging not much fun.

I’ve broken the original application in three parts with a main workflow calling each one in turn. Although this is less elegant and a bit more complicated to install, it should be more reliable.

WordPress 2.5 Released

wordpress25blog 2_bottomfeaturethumb.jpgAs it had been predicted, WordPress 2.5 has just been made available coinciding with WordCamp Dallas.
This blog is already running the new version and the upgrade was as painless as possible. It took less than 15 minutes, and that was mostly due to the slow uploading of files. Just make sure to check that all your plugins are up-to-date and that none of them conflicts with release 2.5. A good place to check for plugin compatibility is the Plugin Compatibility 2.5 list maintained by the WordPress community. Full directions to upgrade are listed in the Upgrading WordPress guide. Thumbnail Creator for the Revolution Pro Theme

automatorrevpro 2_bottomfeaturethumb.jpgI’ve been unsuccessfully looking for a way to automate the creation of thumbnails for use in the home page of the Revolution Pro Media Theme. After trying dozens of shareware and freeware titles, each one with its own limitations, I’ve decided to write an Automator plugin to generate resized images that fit the slots in theme’s front page. The major problem with the lightweight shareware programs was either the lack of presets for specifying multiple dimensions for the icons, or the inconvenience of accessing those presets. A large program like Photoshop seemed an overkill for such a trivial and often repeated task.
