Revised Thumbnail Creator for the Revolution Pro Theme

Some people were expe­ri­enc­ing prob­lems with the orig­i­nal thumb­nail gen­er­a­tor. Automa­tor is not exactly a robust piece of soft­ware making debug­ging not much fun.

I’ve broken the orig­i­nal appli­ca­tion in three parts with a main work­flow call­ing each one in turn. Although this is less ele­gant and a bit more com­pli­cated to install, it should be more reliable.

Thumbnail Creator for the Revolution Pro Theme

I’ve been unsuc­cess­fully look­ing for a way to auto­mate the cre­ation of thumb­nails for use in the home page of the Rev­o­lu­tion Pro Media Theme. After trying dozens of share­ware and free­ware titles, each one with its own lim­i­ta­tions, I’ve decided to write an Automa­tor plugin to gen­er­ate resized images that fit the slots in theme’s front page. The major prob­lem with the light­weight share­ware pro­grams was either the lack of pre­sets for spec­i­fy­ing mul­ti­ple dimen­sions for the icons, or the incon­ve­nience of access­ing those pre­sets. A large pro­gram like Pho­to­shop seemed an overkill for such a triv­ial and often repeated task.

Zenfolio Online Photo Sharing Review

Zen­fo­lio is an online photo shar­ing ser­vice sim­i­lar to Flickr, Smug­mug, Fotki, Expo­sure Man­ager, and many others. What dis­tin­guishes it is the ele­gance of its inter­face, easy of use, and superb cus­tomer ser­vice. I’ve been using it for almost a year and thought it would be useful to share my expe­ri­ence with others. This is not intended to be an exhaus­tive review, nor a com­par­i­son with other ser­vices. It’s rather a col­lec­tion of obser­va­tions from one user point of view.
