Our Photo Galleries are up and Running

Monast?rio dos Jer?nimos, LisbonAfter play­ing with the idea of using Gallery or Cop­per­mine to build a site gallery, I’ve set­tled with an off-​site ser­vice.

There are many advan­tages in that. The gal­leries can be used as an inde­pen­dent photo blog, bypass­ing the rather neu­rotic servers of my cur­rent host. The main­te­nance respon­si­bil­ity is also passed to the photo host. The site appear­ance can be easily and quickly changed and print order­ing, back­ups, etc are han­dled automatically.

After research­ing many of the ser­vices avail­able, I chose Zen­fo­lio. It’s by far the eas­i­est online gallery and also the better-​looking. I’d been test­ing them for 9 months with an inter­me­di­ate plan and was very sat­is­fied, it was an easy deci­sion to move to their pre­mium plan. The runners-​up where Smug­mug (excel­lent sup­port, a few more options, but dated look) and Flickr (inex­pen­sive, but hideous layout).
