Our Photo Galleries are up and Running

Monast?rio dos Jer?nimos, LisbonAfter playing with the idea of using Gallery or Coppermine to build a site gallery, I’ve settled with an off-site service.

There are many advantages in that. The galleries can be used as an independent photo blog, bypassing the rather neurotic servers of my current host. The maintenance responsibility is also passed to the photo host. The site appearance can be easily and quickly changed and print ordering, backups, etc are handled automatically.

After researching many of the services available, I chose Zenfolio. It’s by far the easiest online gallery and also the better-looking. I’d been testing them for 9 months with an intermediate plan and was very satisfied, it was an easy decision to move to their premium plan. The runners-up where Smugmug (excellent support, a few more options, but dated look) and Flickr (inexpensive, but hideous layout).
