MarsEdit Blog Editor: Tagging WordPress, Movable Type

marsedittags.jpgMarsEdit, the popular desktop blog editor for the Mac platform has been updated to version 2.1. The new version brings an assortment of new features, including enhanced web previews, the ability to save drafts to the server, and instant searches for drafts and entries.

Perhaps the most interesting upgrade is the new integrated tag support. For WordPress and Movable Type blogs, it’s now possible to set tags for a post using the integrated tag bar. The assigned tags are also stored and can be used on later posts as needed.

Other features in MarsEdit include: Flickr integration, markup macros, an integrated media manager, and a simple user interface.

MarsEdit costs US$ 29.95 and can be found at “MarsEdit, Red Sweater Software.”

Other Mac software allowing desktop editing of blogs:

MacJournal”

ecto”

TextMate”

Now, if the developers could find a way to set Custom Fields for WordPress posts, I could dispense with the web browser. Until then, it’s still necessary to log into WordPress to finish posting.
